FROM DIGITALIZATION IN CONSTRUCTION TO BETTER OPERATING RESULTS

26/05/2023

Consortium meeting held under the project “Digital transformation is making its way to businesses – development of key performance indicators to increase sector productivity (DIG-IN-KPI)”

The Economic Chamber of North Macedonia remains dedicated to its project activities, supporting the digitization processes within the construction sector and the industry of building materials. As one of the least digitized sectors, it confronts challenges in attaining digital transformation that aligns with the technological trends of Construction 4.0.
Aiming to stimulate digital transformation in the construction sector, the second consortium meeting of the partners in the project “Digital transformation is making its way to businesses – development of key performance indicators to increase sector productivity (DIG-IN-KPI)” took place from 22 to 23 May 2023. The two-day meeting particularly focused on defining digitalization key performance indicators (KPIs) that were developed during phase one of the project. These digitalization KPIs were presented to the companies, which initiated a discussion and consultations with sector companies to define unified KPIs for both N Macedonia and its regional counterparts, Slovenia, and Croatia. Building upon opinions and recommendations from companies in the three countries, the coming period will involve a refinement of the indicators. Subsequently, a free online tool will be developed, granting companies the ability to gauge their level of digitalization through self-assessment. Moreover, this tool will provide guidelines on the necessary steps for further promotion.
During the meeting, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, who are leading the project activities, delivered a presentation on existing online tools that provide e-services to companies in Slovenia. At the invitation of the representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Economy, representatives of the national Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets presented their progress in digitalizing public services available to construction companies such as e-construction logbook, e-permit, and more.
The project “"Dig-in-KPI: Digital transformation is making its way to businesses – development of key performance indicators to increase sector productivity” is funded by the European Union through the Slovene National Agency CMEPIUS and it will serve as a model project for defining digitalization indicators within the European Construction Industry Federation (FIEC). Participating entities include the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, and the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
